The record was previously held by his teammate, Jennie with the music video song “Solo”. Released on September 23, 2021, the performance video reached 600 million views in just eight months (269 days) after its release. Meanwhile, “Money” is a B-side song from Lisa’s debut solo album “LALISA”.

The physical version of the album “LALISA” itself debuted at number one on the Gaon Album Chart, became the best-selling album by a female soloist in chart history, and set the record for the highest first-week sales among all female artists with 736,221 copies sold and was certified double platinum by Korea Music Content Association (KMCA) in November 2021 for selling 500,000 album-equivalent units.

While commercially, the song “Money” peaked at number ten on the Billboard Global 200 and number seven on the Global Excl. U.S., became Lisa’s second single to peak in the top ten and went on to become the longest-charting song by a K-pop soloist on both charts. The song topped the charts in Malaysia and charted in a record 26 countries, and is also the longest-serving single by a K-pop female solo singer on the US Billboard Hot 100 and UK Singles Chart among others.

The lyrics for “Money” were written by Bekuh Boom and Vince, and the music was composed by them with 24 and R. Tee. The lyrics are a pompous song about getting rich and spending money.[6] The song is composed in the key of E minor and carries a tempo of 140 beats per minute, and is described as a dynamic hip hop track. Billboard’s Nolan Feeney described the song’s music as close to “contemporary American rap” and “built around a ring of languid horns.”
